FAQ

What happens during a building inspection?
A Project Intervene inspection is a structured assessment of the building at a specific stage of construction or condition. We focus on identifying:
-
Defective workmanship
-
Non-compliance with the National Construction Code and Australian Standards
-
Structural and framing issues
-
Moisture risks, waterproofing concerns, and durability issues
-
Safety hazards and incomplete works
Where relevant, we also assess whether building elements are likely to perform as intended and highlight risks that may lead to future defects.

Why should I use Project Intervene?
Project Intervene is not a volume inspection service. We operate as independent building consultants acting in your interest. Our point of difference:
-
Civil Engineer + Licensed Builder + Accredited A2 Building Surveyor capability
-
Strong compliance and regulatory background (not just visual inspections)
-
Experience across construction, certification, and dispute environments
-
Ability to identify issues and guide you through rectification and resolution
-
Clear, technically detailed reporting aligned with the NCC and relevant standards
We don’t just identify defects—we help you understand risk, compliance, and next steps.

What makes your service different from a standard building inspector?
Most inspection services are limited to surface-level observations.
Project Intervene combines:
-
Construction experience
-
Certification and compliance expertise
-
Defect diagnostics
-
Project advisory capability
This allows us to identify not just defects—but why they exist, the risk they pose, and how to resolve them properly.

What qualifications do your consultants hold?
Our inspections and reports are prepared by qualified professionals with:
-
NSW Builder Licence
-
Accredited Building Surveyor (A2) qualification
-
Formal training in building certification and compliance
-
Civil engineering background
-
Extensive experience across construction, regulation, and defect diagnostics
This combination allows us to assess both practical construction issues and regulatory compliance, which is critical in defect identification.

What is included in your reports?
Our reports typically include:
-
Identified defects and non-compliances
-
Photographic evidence
-
Reference to applicable NCC provisions and Australian Standards
-
Explanation of the issue and associated risk
-
Recommended rectification approach (where appropriate)
-
Scott Schedule (where required and appropriate)
Reports are written to be clear, structured, and technically defensible.

Do you offer an initial consultation?
Yes.
We offer an initial discussion to understand your project, concerns, and required level of service. This allows us to recommend the most appropriate approach.
Consultations are typically conducted via:
-
Phone
-
Video call
Site meetings can be arranged where required, however, this may incur a fee.

Do your reports comply with Australian Standards?
Where applicable, our inspections and reporting methodology are informed by relevant Australian Standards and industry guidelines.
However, our services extend beyond standardised inspections and include compliance assessment against the NCC and project-specific requirements.

Are your reports suitable for legal or tribunal use?
Standard inspection reports are not prepared for legal proceedings.
If required, we can prepare:
-
Expert witness reports
-
NCAT-compliant documentation
These are issued under separate instruction and scope.

What if I don’t understand something in the report?
We provide direct access to the consultant who prepared your report.
You can contact us to clarify findings, discuss implications, and understand recommended next steps.

Will my information remain confidential?
Yes.
All information provided is treated as strictly confidential and will not be shared with third parties without your consent.

How long does an inspection take?
Inspection duration varies depending on the size, complexity, and stage of the project. Obviously a complex or multi-dwelling projects may take longer.
We prioritise thoroughness over speed.

Can I request specific areas to be assessed?
Yes.
